The Final Business Plan

The final course of the program was the completion of our final business plan. For this course I learned how to deliver a short and professional elevator pitch by using key target market facts. In this month our class completed our business plan financials with final start up costs, cash reserve, and working capital needs. We also finalized the executive summary portion of our business plans. Finally our program culminated in a 6-8 minute keynote presentation pitching our final business plans to potential investors. This final project taught me how to be fully prepared for an important presentation and how to remain calm under pressure.

Business Plan Development

Business plan development began the process of compiling our final business plans. We focused this month on developing the key aspects of a successful and professional business plan. The course was divided into three main projects that compartmentalized the key aspects of developing a business plan. I learned how use the knowledge from previous classes to create detailed sections of my business plan.

Digital Marketing

The digital marketing course was surrounded around teaching our class the seven different digital marketing channels, SEO, social media, paid search, digital PR, display advertising, email marketing, and affiliate marketing. I learned the detailed aspects of each marketing channel and what it takes to create and effective digital marketing campaign. We learned how to measure each channel through number, budget, and cost of each conversion. I also learned how to measure campaign's through Google Analytics.

Media Publishing and Distribution

Media publishing was focused around the current ways to self publish a personal work including film, TV show, and publication. I learned the different outlets that allow self-publishing and the different royalty rates they offer. The final project allowed me to create a game design treatment and proposal to deliver to different distribution agents. I also learned how to self market different publications through social media and networking.

Advanced Entertainment Law

The advanced entertainment law class taught me legal principles, terms, and how they relate to the entertainment industry. I was able to enhance my research skills by using legal databases to conduct research for papers. The most important topics we studied in class were intellectual property, copyright infringement, digital law, and the court system. These legal principles will help me while working for a major company because I will know what is and isn’t acceptable. We were also asked to interview a lawyer in the entertainment industry. This gave me a real insight of the industry and the many career paths of an entertainment lawyer.
